JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Business Development Manager
Location: London

Summary:
As New Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for the generation of qualified new business opportunities in line with the company’s skills and capabilities.
You will be involved in all aspects of the business development process from initiation to contract signature including defining and researching prospects, generating leads, creating and attending new business appointments and preparing and assisting in the development of presentations and new business proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for:
• Ensuring the company’s new business revenue target is met and exceeded
• Researching prospects across key company vertical practice areas (Health & Pharma, Consumer Electronics, Transportation, Telco, Media & Entertainment, Financial Services)
• Attending conferences, exhibitions and other suitable networking and industry events
• Responding to opportunities through referrals, recommendations and identified inbound opportunities
• Making and attending early stage new business appointments
• Preparing and delivering company credentials presentations
• Coordinating with company team members to develop customised new business proposals
• Working closely with the Directors and other company personnel as necessary to bring about the successful acquisition of new client engagements
• Pipeline management and reporting
• Ensuring that deadlines and deliverables for new business are achieved to the highest level of quality, both for internal reviews and external presentations and deadlines
• Liaising with clients, suppliers and colleagues in a professional and timely manner
• Qualifying and prioritising new business opportunities based on business value, creative potential and commercial viability
• Attending early stage new business meetings and calls as required
• Ensuring that all business development work is always properly documented, stored and archived on the company’s servers
• Managing consolidated new business report

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience
• Experience within a similar role
• Demonstrable industry experience
• Proven track record at securing new business, from first contact to agency selection
• Evidence of presenting to a range of audiences
• Experience of writing well-structured and original proposals

Knowledge and Skills
• Proven networking skills
• Commercially focused coupled with keen interest in the company’s core competencies
• Ability to work under pressure to meet proposal and presentation deadlines
• Proactive and personable approach
• Strong communication skills are essential to the role. In particular candidates are expected to excel at presenting the company’s credentials and have a proven track record at writing proposals to the highest standards

The Business Director role is part of this next wave and will play a key role in acquiring new clients and help the company grow sustainably.

Key Responsibilities:
As the Business Director you will be responsible for building our new business portfolio. The main responsibilities for this role are:
– Develop and manage client prospect relationships
– Work with creative and experience design leads to provide prospect clients with expert knowledge regarding the company’s process for creativity and innovation, always looking to tailor this to match needs of the client organisation
– Research prospects and relevant industry vertical trends so that the company has up to date analysis of market context and the company opportunity
– Manage the company’s attendance to key industry events
– Play a lead role networking at events and conferences to build out the company’s relationships with prospects and partners
– Consulting with senior client prospects and being able to quickly identify fertile areas for the company’s services
– Create significant new business opportunities
– Ensure the company is present at relevant industry events and participating with industry recognised associations
– Participate in recruitment interviews where relevant

Qualifications and Experience:
– University degree desired – a specific subject is not required.
– Significant years’ experience as a proven professional across the Design, Digital and Innovation sectors
– Experience at prospecting a range of different creative engagements
– Experience of prospecting leads and turning early stage conversations into well qualified new business opportunities
– Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams to craft tailored proposals

New Business

– Ability to engage and develop relationships with Senior Executives of clients and partner organisations
– Networking at key events and functions to help promote the company’s services to new audiences

Research and Analysis

– Proven expertise in creating custom research reports on key individuals, companies and industry sectors
– Proven analytical ability to create or interpret new business briefs, to ensure that the company satisfies client requests
– Keep up to date with relevant industry and client focused events, and manage attendance by key staff members

Communication

– Self-confidence and experience presenting in all client-facing situations
– Exceptional writing and communication skills for creating convincing and original proposals tailored to client’s business objectives
– Prepare report and analysis for senior internal stakeholders’
– Manage the company’s internal new business pipeline & forecast

Project Management

– Where relevant work with project managers to scope and plan prospect engagements
– Ensure deadlines for active new business proposals are well managed

Teamwork

– Excellent interpersonal skills
– Ability to work autonomously within broad parameters
– Ability to travel extensively/internationally at short notice
